My wife is from Illinois and has never had apple butter, I know right? So Irish People Try on YouTube was doing a "Try all things apple" episode and that had me wanting apple butter. However, when she told me she had never heard or had the item I knew what to do. In the early 1980s, I would visit the Amana Colonies every spring and had to place my order immediately. But the flat-shipping rate left me troubled but hey, it was "For my wife" right? She loved it but let me know I did it all wrong. Powering through the jar she asked how I did it, I showed her and before I knew it she had ordered more products from the store, (including apple butter) at $100.00 the flat shipping rate made sense. Love Amana products, and love the colonies, now I have to take her there, it is just 23 hours away by car so... Road trip!
